Salterns by David Burdeny / Aerial Photography

Saltern Study 06, Great Salt Lake, UT, 2015

While looking at David Burdeny’s salterns project, it can be hard to tell if your looking at a photo or a extremely vibrant painting.

SALT: Fields, Plottings and Extracts, began in 2015 when Burdeny began using aerial photography to explore some of the world’s most colourful salterns. The large-scale photography project features locations from Utah, Mexico, and Australia. Burdeny’s photos turns the landscapes into a sea of abstract shapes and colours, making the salt fields seem like they are from an alien world.

You can see more from Burdeny’s SALT series, as well more of his works on his website, davidburdeny.com.
